I believe the best energy weapon has the power to kill deathclaws in a. It is on most acations)now the name of the gun(energy weapon)is the.
Project Nevada added the chargeable energy weapon feature.Energy weapons usually deal less damage or fire slower, but they need only three types of ammo and those can be changed into one another at a workbench, so it's easier to manage them. They also can do nasty thing on critical hits, especially the DLC weapons.Throughout the whole series they acted like a very unique type of weapons, and it needs time to properly adjust your play style to it. A good energy weapons char can do larger devastation than a gun-toting fighter, but it needs a careful build and knowing that they are not working like spraying everything with lead, like in most shooters.
Think of them as scopeless snipers: precision is the key.Except for the gatling laser, of course. With that you just hold down the trigger and see things burn. A laser rifle with a beam splitter, and focus optics and a scope, is great for sneak attack crits. Its SILENT are you comparing them to silent weapons? The Plasmas are more of a VATs Gun.
Don't really use them much. Not being hitscan means they need to be used at short range, nice for getting thru radscorp DT (with a damage modded GRA plasma pistol)Alright things about Energy1.) Really easy to get ammo for.
In my playthough I'm at Lvl 12 and I'm making my way to New Vegas, with around 75 points in both Guns and Sneak. You may have guessed from this is that the way I like to approach enemies is to creep up to them hidden and to crit headshot them. At the moment I have an unmodded Cowboy Repeater and a Hunting Rifle.
I'm not a big fan of the sights on the repeater and I don't do well with the Hunting Rifle from a distance. I've been on the lookout for sniper rifles but I haven't found any yet. So what I'm wondering is what is the best weapon for my current build and/or what are the best mods I can put on them? So what I'm wondering is what is the best weapon for my current build and/or what are the best mods I can put on them?Definitely Sniper, only problem is that they appear somewhat late in the merchant's inventory. What you can do to get one soon though is go to camp McCarran, there's one on the bed where 1st recon is, it's badly damaged but once repaired it's just fine, it's also 'un-owned' so it's not stealing to take it.At that skill level you may be able to do Vault 34. It's southwest of Vegas, and highly radioactive. Basically, the vault's gimmick is guns for everyone, so if you make it to the armory you will basically be set for the rest of your playthrough. Other than that, try the Brotherhood of Steel and the Boomers.Vault 34 with a cowboy repeater oughta be fun.:p. So what I'm wondering is what is the best weapon for my current build and/or what are the best mods I can put on them? For the longest time the Varmint Rifle with the silencer and scope was my weapon of choice. With full Guns and Sneak (with help from buffs) I never needed much else. I did have to upgrade around level 15-16 which is when I got the Hunting Rifle with a scope. Fuck the Sniper Rifle, compared to the scoped Hunting Rifle it's a joke. Well if you can get 100 lockpicking you can always pick up the unique sniper at the snipers nest which is pretty dam nice and would last you the rest of the game. You can also try vault 34 for a bunch of real nice guns but that place might be alittle tough on you. A hunter rifle with a scope works wonders as well since you can kill most enemies before they even get within range of vats. Also I think you will be able to buy the antimaterial rifle from the gun runners around level 16 or so.
They should already be able to sell you a regular sniper. At that skill level you may be able to do Vault 34.

I remember doing it with a cowboy repeater on my first playthrough, but I also remember reloading saves a lot. The second time around I wised up and went there with the Matter Modulator and Veronica wearing a full suit of Brotherhood armor. Go to the Broc Flower Caves.Find 'Ratslayer.' It's a unique Varmint Rifle with the night vision scope, suppressor, and extended magazine mods built in. With high Guns and Sneak it's pretty ridiculously deadly for the vast majority of the game, particularly when used for long-range sniping (AKA: plinking away at distant targets who are completely unaware of your presence and chaining an infinite number of Sneak Attack criticals on them). It uses extremely common ammunition, it's pretty durable, and it's also incredibly easy to maintain as Varmint Rifles are incredibly common and dirt cheap if you need to buy one to repair with. I will asume you have the Honest Hearts DLC here.
If you follow the quest line to kill the White Legs, you'll tag along with the burned man when you get to 'The Three Mary's' when you reach that point find the dock on the riverbank and search the closest elevated position. There you'll find a weapon in a Duffle bag called Survivalists Rifle, (a slightly reskinned Service Rifle) with the Grunt perk it'll deal 64 damage with each shot. You're sneaking options are very limited though a Sniper Rifle is probably your best shot, I prefer the Hunting rifle with the scope for that. Other snipers might be better, but that thing has more feeling to it. At that skill level you may be able to do Vault 34.

Only yesterday I ventured into Vault 34 for the first time (because I heard of the Armoury). Believe me when I say this: It is definitely worth it, no matter what weapons you use! Honestly, I had to make my companions carry all the guns and ammo because I was so over encumbered.
It ain't easy getting there though, I used a radiation suit, countless Radaway and Rad-X, and I still just barely came out alive (granted I was in there for quite a while but the Vault does have a lot to offer). I was at about level 18-20 when I went through this Vault.Other than the vault, Gun Runners next to the outer walls of Freeside, they sell fantastic weapons and mods so long as you are a high enough level. I think they are the best gun store in the game.My character is currently level 25 and these are my weapons:1. Laser Rifle (w/ mods for a scope, and a damage increase).2. A unique Marksman Carbine (which I found in Vault 34).3. Riot Shotgun (this is a fantastic weapon if you like shotguns).4. Anti Materiel Rifle (takes down Deathclaws in one hit w/ Armour piercing rounds (with 100 gun skill)).5.
Grenade Machine Gun (I don't use this as much, but I have it for groups of enemies mostly).Out of all those guns I would definitely two of those weapons. The Marksman Carbine, and the Riot Shotgun. Both very powerful and fun to use weapons. I would recommend the Anti Materiel Rifle as well, but ammunition is really expensive, and weighs a ton, also the gun is hard to repair without the Jury Rigging perk.
SnipOP: Look and sort by whatever stat you wish. Then go find the Gun you want. And I do so love A Light Shining In The Darkness. I prefer pistols over rifles, though.Best suggestion anyone is going to give you. As for yourself, OP, the sniper's rifle is nice but there are some targets it's lousy against. Deathclaws in a pack for instance, or a swarm of cazadores. Both are virtually impossible to sneak up on as well.
Be sure you keep a secondary weapon handy. If you have the DLC, head on over to Zion from Honest Hearts and pick up the survivalist rifle. Dell monitor dims and brightens. 10 shot magazine all full of thunder.
