A decent horse and a lance are one of the most devastating combinations that can be brought to bear in Mount and Blade. Simply take out your lance and gallop on your horse, the lance should lower. (any kind of horse in your inventory count as a pack horse and lighten the encumbrance) How to have a fast-moving army: - have as few. Encumbrance hardly makes a difference, and doesn't really matter in SP. I for one hope this is changed in Bannerlord, so there's actually a point in using lighter armor. Travel Speed is influenced by 3 factors - Party Size, Pathfinding, and the number of horses you have in your inventory.
